Meniscus diffusion test

August 20, 2011

First test shot with a recently bought meniscus lens. I love diffusion and the old soft portrait lens look. A meniscus is a simple, primitive lens design, just a piece of curved glass. This one is about 100 mm focal length and came in a shutter that I then put in a Crown Graphic lens board. This was shot wide open, about f/4.5 with focus on the water drops at the bottom of the window. HP5 in Xtol 1:1 for 12 minutes. My intention is to only use this lens wide open and shoot for diffusion. Particularly keen to make portraits with it.
