Pinhole haircut March 2014
April 9, 2014
About 25 minutes with Tmax 100, processed in Adonal 1+50 for 14 minutes. I made a frame similar to this on a previous occasion but decided to try again with the pinhole camera a bit closer to the mirror. This is underexposed compared to what I generally get. By chance I showed the camera to my repair guy not long after – he looked at the pinhole through a magnifier, out of curiosity, and saw a small hair stuck across it. He said the relative size would be like holding a pencil across the front of a regular lens. Possibly this blocked enough light to cause the darker exposure.

Zero Image 2000 6×6 pinhole camera at f/138, 28 minute exposure, processed in Rodinal 1+50 for 14 minutes. My second Xmas tree pinhole. I couldn’t do one during my February haircut as there was a woman sleeping under a hair dryer. My hairdresser was worried about her reaction if she woke up and saw a box on a tripod.

Zero Image 2000 6×6 pinhole camera at f/138, 28 minute exposure, processed in Rodinal 1+50 for 14 minutes.
I attached the camera to the ceiling again, this time approximately in the centre. In the lower right I’ve been exposed having my hair washed and rinsed at the start and finish, and in the top left I’m in the chair. The semi-circle blur around the chair is the hairdresser moving around as he works. This film was processed at home in my bathroom – you can do just as good a job with film developing at home as you can in a proper darkrrom.
Pinhole Haircut, August 2013

August 2013, I was going to try another one from the ceiling, saw he had a lot of wigs in for washing and styling so made an exposure that included them.
24 minutes, Tmax 100, Zero Image 2000 6×6 pinhole. Meter reading suggested 3 minutes, Reciprocity calculator extrapolates this to 13 minutes. 24 is just one stop more than 13 so should be within the exposure latitude of this film. Processed in Rodinal 1+50.

My hairdresser allowed me to stick the camera to the ceiling for this one. Exposure time was about 20 minutes with Kodak Tmax 100. In the lower right corner is a grey circle, which is a mat, and a white squiggle which is his maltese terrier sleeping there. I think I’ll try another ceiling looking down view next time I go, this time from closer to the centre of the room. There is also potential to do one with the camera closer to the mirror.

The idea this time was to have the dog resting on the mat in front of the camera, however the dog wanted to lie on the floor near my feet. The exposure time was about 25 minutes, processed in Maco RO9 1+50 for 14 minutes. I usually process Tmax 100 for 12 minutes but decided to give the pinhole roll a bit longer as there is more chance of thin negs.
